Front end role vs. back end role

MBAs die for front end roles, without even knowing what does front role mean ? they cry to get one of those role. Finally when they get one, they crib for the shit they need to go through in order to get the job done. Hey! smart ass, didn't you opt for this?  Anyway I never understood what is the actual difference between front end roles and back end roles? Definition changes from person to person and from time to time. Mostly the person whom you are talking is on back end role and his counter-jealousy-part-sumo is having all the time of his life.

There are other definitions which can help us understand the difference and which I have collected or picked up in two years of my MBA life.
  1. If you are using too much excel and less other stuff. Definitely back end role. No logic!
  2. If you are screwing the other person lower in terms of role and pay to you, this is definitely a front end role. My engineer friends, please do not take the meaning literally.
  3. If you are getting screwed back by your boss. Front end role. No questions asked.
  4. If you work a lot and do not get good bonus & hike. Back end role.
There are loads of different definitions given by many "Gyaani Purush". Few thing which I have not understood yet are that what about the work ? and what about my likes and why do we need to follow the herd and go through the incessant cycle of abuse and screwing.

Rubbing salt.. Nah!.. Isn't that too mainstream!!

I never saw anyone who is not cribbing after passing out from an IIM. Someone did not get the role they wanted, someone got the company wrong altogether and few left did not have anything better to do at this time. Higher management instead of giving time to understand needs of people who are flag-bearers of future of our country decided to focus on bottom line. This has hurt us. What is their in business?, It is us who are important. It is us who will later create wonders & create an Utopian world.

There are many categories of cribbers. They are divided into three major categories.
1. Reactive chunk : People who always crib. These guys don't need any motivation to crib. They will crib even after getting appointed as President of USA. Dude I have to sit every day in this fucking white building & listens to all the old people. I am not applying my learning's here. I have read so many case studies.

2. Catalyzers : They crib with reactive chunk. They need some nudging from your end to get them into mood. They can easily take all the happiness from you just like death eaters of Harry Potter.

3. Genuine Cribbers: These are the real guys. They really got bad role\ bad profile\ bad company. Stay away from them.

I sure do not belong to any of them. Yay! right.

Conversation nah!, only intimidation & zero tolerance

It is really difficult to converse with people from IIMs. Most of the time, they are filled with ego. Ithe feeling that they are the best makes it difficult to penetrate the upper skull. People don't try to understand, they try to underestimate each other. You don't agree but disagree. I guess companies are brilliant to acknowledge the fact that they can't have more than two MBAs in a same team, only one manager policy. Anyway, Listening less and Talking more policy needs to go away and its better if everyone realizes it before it's too late, including me.

Dream Job!!

Dream Job!!, Let me clear this phrase to all. There isn't any. It is an illusion created by seniors and to them by their seniors and so on. Every company knows how to take maximum out of the employee and pay minimum All the people who think they have got best job on campus, hold your thoughts for a while, relax and take a deep breath. Now, listen to your inner sense, if left any after two years of continuous and senseless mugging. Think about the pathetic future life while working with this dream company. Now start cribbing!!

Shortlist is an illusion, gulp it down with cold water

This would be the most deluded and discussed topic during placements session. Everyone has its own theory of satisfying his or her own desire. If I've got the shortlist, it is based on the brilliant profile I've got. If I didn't, probably HR is a stupid sick bastard or placements committee has made an error while sending my application.

Whatever the case may be, it is a problem bigger than Bermuda Triangle in a B-School. Most the of the time students are being shortlisted by HR, who as per me do not deserve to do this. They are really the most illogical people on earth. I think I am being biased about them but you know what, I don't care. Fuck HRs and fuck their stupid selection criteria because today is the day I am not shortlisted in two of the companies where more than half of the batch is celebrating their little success.

Selection Criteria : To be or Not to be ?

An IIM thrive to create perfect manager, someone who will not just do mundane activities. I have been in numerous debate with my colleagues to identify criterion for a perfect manager. Most of the time conversation highlights academic excellence as one of the logical criteria to justify everything. It is not their fault as most of them were judged based on similar criterion when they got their entry in the coveted B-School.

With successful people present on both sides of bucket, Is choosing people with brilliant academic record is correct ? Aren't we missing a link here ? or shouldn't we need to search for some other parameters which are more closer to our search for a perfect manager? These questions will always haunts the generations to come and may be a wrong correlation can destroy the brand built in centuries.

Heaven, Haven or Mr. Lonely

An engineer is the only one who can tell you importance of a girl in life. Someone is not less than a rock star, if he is able to woo a girl in his engineering college. But, life is not constant always & MBA is no less than an oasis for thirsty souls like us. At first, it was difficult for me to absorb the idea of having so many girls around. A constant sound of chattering was annoying. Slowly & suddenly, my inner self has started receiving & understanding the melody in that sound and trust me it has nothing to do with my hearing abilities. During graduation, we used to get excited on having prospect of having a single girl in our group & here every group has at-least one girl. I am now the biggest fan of demand supply issue. Back then scoring was legendary, but now it's not that highly valued. You just need willingness with right amount of luck with impeccable timing. Scoring won't be that difficult. But again, we still have all categories of males here Heaven, Haven or Mr. Lonely!
